Welcome to my blog!
This weblog is an online journal. If there
is a "mission" it is to generate interest in the local music scene. I attempt to do that by attending events and talking
about my experiences in occasional posts.. I do not intend to offer criticism .. I am not a musician. I do highlight
those artists that put on a bigger and/or better show and the artists that "move me" more but even those less polished are
offering something to Long Island patrons and I'd like to see more patrons out there enjoying the good local talent.
You will find a log of my few weekly experiences. My "angle"
may be different in some ways, hopefully. I sometimes see things differently. I hope my perceptions offer some
insight on occasion and some humor.
I expect that this conversation will reveal a life that appreciates
blues. I see "blues" as musical-artistic expressions of human conditions.
I also like to provide links to other things on the web that I
find interesting. I will be commenting on the places I go to hear music and the folks I meet. I will be commenting
on the things I see and hear on Long Island and elsewhere. As much as I hate politics I may find it hard to resist commenting
on that too.
This is a personal, creative endeavor so
if there are some mistakes, well, sorry... it's free entertainment. I consider myself something of an impressionist as
it pertains to style. I am human and sometimes speak /write before I think. I can get into
trouble with these extroverted tendencies but thats why this is...what it is... a journal. I hope you find
some useful information or something entertaining on occasion....thanks for being here!!!!
Keep scrolling down for more posts and the Calendar. There is a menu of other pages as well.
fall from the sky when one scratches the surface of the internet world. Could it be the anonymity that veils people from typical
responsibilities of courtesy. I hate to apply rules to behavior, after all, I live sort of an unconventional existence, but
it gets frustrating, for instance, when a correspondence asks for a response and none arrives. What should one do?
Risk taking on a scolding approach and mentioning the persons ignorance? I'm never sure. I do know I feel like my mother
who used to correct all "unpolite" behavior....constantly. I bet she would curse the internet to hell if she experienced the
week I did.
In fact I was trying to sell some furniture on a classified site and also to sell my professional "craft" services
and the ensuing correspondences were abrupt, even rude, one after the next. I maintained my composure totally because I was,
after all, trying to sell something. Does that even matter when the people are not in my neighborhood and will not run into
me at the supermarket? I just don't know.
In any case I for one will be trying to keep up some standards of communication courtesy. I hope you all do the same.
Forgive the preaching if it is that.
The week ahead promises challenges, some solvable, some might be, some; no idea.. All I know is it
is Sunday and there is some good baseball and football on TV and I have my family here preparing din dins. It all feels okay
at the moment.
The decisions have all been made with good intentions. Never about money, always about peace of mind.
Meanwhile life goes on, gas prices go up, taxes increase, things break, people lose jobs, etc, etc. I suppose we must take
each day and enjoy it for what it is. It is a Sunday with family and sports on TV. That feels like a luxury right now. It
is a Monday with a week to plan and more to deliver than there are days in the week. It is a Friday with people to pay and
a week to reflect on. Every day has its challenges and demands and rewards. If nothing else the reward is the day itself.
The chance to kiss my child off to school and the time at the dinner table with whomever is there that night and the thoughts
of friends and even the occasional phone calls all make each day full of some joy.
I guess, like a jar full of sand, there is still room for some water. There is always room for some
joy and that displaces something, anything everything.
I'll make changes to this site on a regular basis, sharing news, views, experiences, photos...whatever occurs to me.
